If your trip revolves around a game, a concert or a convention, the Omni Atlanta Hotel at Centennial Park is the most convenient hotel in the city. It is a large, full-service hotel in the heart of the downtown event district, directly connected to State Farm Arena, home of the Atlanta Hawks, and to the Georgia World Congress Center, one of the largest convention centers in the country. It describes itself as the closest hotel to Mercedes-Benz Stadium, where the Falcons and Atlanta United play and where Atlanta hosted eight matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and it overlooks Centennial Olympic Park, with the Georgia Aquarium, the World of Coca-Cola and the College Football Hall of Fame a few minutes away on foot. The hotel was long known as the Omni at CNN Center, and it stands beside the former CNN headquarters building, which has been redeveloped as The Center, with a new food hall that opened in 2026. Rooms are contemporary and comfortable, and many offer views over the park and the downtown skyline; suites are available for families and groups. The hotel has four dining venues with indoor and outdoor seating, including the Top Draft sports bar, popular before and after events. There is a heated pool and hot tub and a fitness center. It is a busy hotel — event nights bring crowds through the lobby, and rates rise sharply around big games, concerts and conventions — but its location and connections make it hard to beat for an event-driven trip. It is less atmospheric than the city's historic hotels.

The Omni grew up with Atlanta's downtown event district. When CNN made the building next door its world headquarters, the hotel became part of a complex that drew visitors from around the world, and CNN's studio tours were long a popular attraction. CNN has since left the building and the tours no longer exist; the complex has been rebranded as The Center and is being redeveloped with dining, retail and new residential and hotel space around a renovated atrium. The neighborhood around the hotel, including the Centennial Yards development to the south, is in the middle of a long transformation.

To stay well, request a room with a Centennial Olympic Park view on a high floor; the park and its Fountain of Rings are lovely at night. If you are attending an event, use the indoor connections to the arena and the convention center to avoid the street crowds, and plan meals around the event schedule, since the hotel restaurants fill quickly before and after games. The pool is a good break for children between attractions. Book well ahead for big event weekends.

As a base, the Omni suits sports fans, concertgoers, convention attendees and families who want to walk to the aquarium and the downtown museums. The MARTA rail line has a station nearby that connects to the airport and Midtown. For nightlife and restaurants, Midtown and the eastside neighborhoods are a short ride away. Parking is available but expensive on event days; most visitors do not need a car.
