The home of the Houston Astros is one of the best ballparks in baseball, and a guided tour is a great way to see it even if you cannot catch a game. The stadium opened in 2000 on the edge of downtown, incorporating Houston's historic Union Station as its grand entrance, and it was known for most of its life as Minute Maid Park before being renamed Daikin Park on January 1, 2025. Its retractable roof keeps games comfortable in Houston's summer heat and storms, and its quirks — the short left-field porch of the Crawford Boxes, the train that runs along the outfield wall after home runs — are part of its character. The Astros run several tour options. The Classic Tour, about an hour, visits club levels and suites, the press box, the center-field warning track and the team's Hall of Fame Alley, and runs Monday through Saturday. The two-hour Ultimate Fan Tour adds the upper deck and the Union Station roof deck, and on non-game days includes the Diamond Club and the Astros dugout; it runs during the season and is not offered on days with early home games. A two-hour Center Field Tour on Saturdays covers the dugout, a field lap, the home run pump and, in the offseason, the visitors' locker room, and a Spanish-language Ultimate Tour runs on Saturdays in season. The quick Daikin Dash lets you walk the warning track on non-game days. Prices are modest, children under three are free, and stops depend on games, events and construction. Tours start from the Union Station lobby.
Tours are the best way to see places fans never reach on game day: the press box with its view straight down the lines, the plush club levels and the field itself, close enough to touch the outfield wall. The guides know their history, from the stadium's opening years through the Astros' World Series titles, and they will point out details such as the vintage locomotive and the old station architecture. On game days the schedule shrinks, so check the calendar if a dugout visit matters to you.
If the Astros are in town, a game is the obvious companion — the roof is usually closed in summer, so it is one of the most comfortable places in Houston on a hot evening. Seats in the Crawford Boxes put you in home-run range, and the concourses showcase local food vendors. Outside the season, from roughly October to March, the tours continue and the offseason Center Field Tour adds the visitors' clubhouse.
Daikin Park is on the east side of downtown, a short walk from Discovery Green, the George R. Brown Convention Center and the big convention hotels, and close to the METRORail. Combine a tour with lunch downtown or a walk through Discovery Green. Private group tours can be arranged in advance. Tickets are sold through the Astros, and tours can sell out on busy Saturdays and during school holidays, so book ahead if you have a specific day in mind. Wear comfortable shoes, as the longer tours involve a lot of walking and stairs, and allow time afterward for the team store. Tour schedules change around home games, concerts and other events, and some areas may be closed for construction, so always confirm the day before.
