Denali Bluffs Hotel

Denali Bluffs Hotel sits on the slopes of Sugarloaf Mountain at 238.4 George Parks Highway, above the Nenana River canyon and close to the Denali National Park entrance. It has 176 rooms, with 112 Hillside Rooms in 12 buildings and 64 RiverView Premium Rooms in 4 buildings. The Dennis Brandon Pavilion offers a covered overlook of the canyon, and there are two places to eat: the Perky Moose Pantry and Cafe for coffee and light meals, and the Mountaineer Grill and Bar for homestyle barbecue and local beer. A courtesy shuttle runs to the park visitor center, the railroad depot, the bus depot and nearby attractions. Rooms have free Wi-Fi, a refrigerator and a coffee and tea station.

Season. This is a summer-only hotel. The rates page checked here listed a 2026 season from May 19 to September 12, with shoulder season May 19 to 25 and September 6 to 12, and peak season May 26 to September 1. The 2027 dates had not been published in the source checked, so confirm them when you book. The hotel is closed in November, but next summer can be booked now, and Denali lodging fills early.

Location and getting around. The hotel is above the park entrance area, with the courtesy shuttle reaching the visitor center, the Alaska Railroad depot and the bus depot within minutes, and the Park Connection motorcoach also runs daily shuttle service. Denali Air's airstrip for flightseeing lies a few miles south on the Parks Highway, so the flight and the Tundra Wilderness Tour are both easy from here.

Rooms and who it suits. Hillside Rooms are the standard choice, and RiverView Premium Rooms add views over the Nenana River canyon. Rooms include cable TV, a telephone, a refrigerator, a coffee and tea station, a private bath with hair dryer and free Wi-Fi. It suits first-time Denali visitors who want convenience and a reasonable price, with dining on site. Good to know: rooms are simple rather than luxurious, the hotel is spread across hillside buildings, and you should book the park bus or tour at the same time.
