Holiday Inn Express Bangkok Sathorn is one of the smartest budget choices in central Bangkok: clean, reliable, well located and with breakfast included in the rate. It is tucked away at 51 Soi Pipat, a quiet lane in the Sathorn business district on the Silom side, which means you are a three-minute walk from Chong Nonsi BTS station and close to everything Silom has to offer, without the noise of the main road. The hotel follows the Holiday Inn Express formula. Rooms are compact and modern, with either a queen bed or two singles, good beds and showers, a work desk and free Wi-Fi, and they are kept smoke-free. The daily Express Start breakfast, served from 6am to 10am, includes selected hot items and is included in the price, which adds real value for budget travellers. There is a fitness room open around the clock, daily housekeeping, an on-site restaurant and, unusually for central Bangkok, complimentary parking for registered guests. What the hotel does not have is a swimming pool, a spa or a rooftop bar, and that is the main trade-off to weigh: in Bangkok's heat, many travellers find a pool worth the extra money. But if you plan to be out all day and simply need a comfortable, quiet room in a great location, it is excellent value. Opened in 2014, the hotel is one of IHG's first Holiday Inn Express properties in Thailand. The neighbourhood is a strength: Silom's food stalls and restaurants, the Mahanakhon SkyWalk, Lumphini Park and Patpong are all within walking distance or a stop on the BTS, and the Chong Nonsi skywalk connects to the Sathorn side and the BRT bus. Check-in is from 3pm, check-out at noon, and guests must be eighteen or over to check in.
Making the most of it: start the day with the included breakfast, then use the BTS from Chong Nonsi to reach Siam in a few minutes or Saphan Taksin for the river boats to the old town. Silom is one of the best eating districts in Bangkok, and the lanes around Soi Pipat, Sala Daeng and Soi Convent offer street food at every hour. For a swim, a few nearby hotels and gyms sell day passes, or plan pool time on your last day elsewhere. The Mahanakhon SkyWalk is a short walk away for sunset views.
Choosing a room: request a higher floor and a room away from the lift for quiet. Rooms are snug, so travellers with large luggage or families should consider other options, as there are no family suites. Couples and solo travellers on business or city breaks will find everything they need.
Who it suits: budget-conscious couples and solo travellers, business visitors, and first-timers who want to spend their money on food and experiences rather than facilities. It is not a resort and does not try to be one. On recent conditions: Silom and Sathorn, in the central business district, were not among the flood-affected eastern districts in September 2026, and the BTS remained in service.
