Hyatt Place Bangkok Sukhumvit 1 is a fresh, comfortable mid-range option at the quieter western end of Sukhumvit, ideal for travellers who want brand-new rooms and dependable service without five-star prices. It officially opened in December 2024 as the second Hyatt Place in Bangkok, in the central Watthana district near Sukhumvit Soi 1, about a ten-minute walk from BTS Ploenchit and close to Central Embassy, the upscale mall with an excellent food hall, as well as Terminal 21 and the EM District malls further along Sukhumvit. The hotel has 145 rooms designed in the Hyatt Place style, with separate areas to sleep, work and relax, and a Cozy Corner sofa-sleeper that makes the rooms flexible for families or friends sharing. Rooms are modern, well lit and practical, with free Wi-Fi throughout. Food and drink are built for convenience: a breakfast with hot and cold options, an all-day dining menu available at any hour, and The Bar serving coffee, beer, wine and cocktails. A fitness centre with modern cardio machines and the brand's Necessities programme, which lets you buy, borrow or get forgotten items, round out the facilities. The official launch materials did not mention a pool, so check before booking if a swim matters. The location balances access and calm: lower Sukhumvit has the embassies, the Ploenchit and Chidlom shopping strip and some of the city's best hotel bars and restaurants, while the nightlife of Nana and Asok is a short taxi or BTS ride east. It is about an hour by car to both Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports. As a new property, it has fewer reviews than older hotels, but it offers modern comfort at a fair price in a well-connected part of town.

Choosing a room: the sofa-sleeper is the key feature, so families with one or two children and friends travelling together can share a room comfortably. Ask for a higher floor for city views and quiet. Check whether breakfast is included in your rate; it is a useful time saver for early starts to the temples. World of Hyatt members earn and redeem points here.

Getting around: walk ten minutes to BTS Ploenchit, which takes you to Siam in one stop and connects at Siam to the Silom line for the river and the old town, or north towards Chatuchak. The Erawan Shrine, CentralWorld and the Siam malls are within a short ride or a long walk along the skywalk. Lumphini Park is a short taxi ride south. Evenings in lower Sukhumvit are relaxed, with good restaurants in the sois and hotel bars nearby; for livelier nightlife, ride east to Asok, Phrom Phong or Thong Lo.

Who it suits: couples and solo travellers who want a new, comfortable room at a mid-range price, families who need flexible sleeping space, and business travellers working around Ploenchit and the embassies. It is less suited to travellers who want a pool and resort facilities, or who want to walk out of the door into the old town. On recent conditions: central Sukhumvit was not among the flood-affected districts in September 2026.
