MIMARU is an apartment-hotel brand designed for families and groups traveling in Japan, and MIMARU Osaka Namba Station is one of its best-located properties. Its 91 rooms all start at around forty square meters, roughly double a standard Osaka hotel room, and every room has a kitchen with cooking utensils and a dining table, so you can make breakfast, reheat bento from the department-store food halls, or cook a simple dinner after a long day at Universal Studios. Room types include studios and two-bedroom suites that sleep up to six, along with concept rooms, and the brand's playful touches, from board games to themed decor, make it feel more like a home base than a hotel. Staff are used to international guests. The location is very convenient for Minami: about four minutes' walk from the south exit of Nankai Namba Station, where trains leave for Kansai International Airport and Koyasan; around eight minutes from Exit 3 of Namba Station on the Midosuji line; and six minutes from Nipponbashi Station on the Kintetsu, Sennichimae and Sakaisuji lines, for Nara. Den Den Town, the anime and electronics district, is around the corner, Kuromon Market is a short walk for breakfast, and Dotonbori is about ten minutes on foot. The address is in Nipponbashi, Naniwa Ward, a slightly quieter block than the neon core.

Who it suits. Families with children, groups of friends and anyone staying a week or more. Being able to put small children to bed in a separate room, do a load of laundry and eat breakfast at your own pace makes a real difference on a long trip, and per person the price is often lower than booking two hotel rooms. It is also an excellent base for USJ days, since the Midosuji and JR connections are easy from Namba.

The trade-offs. MIMARU is an apartment hotel, so services are lighter than in a full hotel: there is no grand lobby, restaurant or bar, and daily housekeeping may be limited on longer stays. Check-in follows apartment-hotel processes, sometimes with tablets or self-service steps. The streets immediately around the hotel are ordinary city blocks rather than picturesque ones, and the walk to Dotonbori passes busy roads. MIMARU runs several Osaka properties with similar names, including an annex near this one that opened in October 2026, so confirm the exact building when booking.

Practical notes. Supermarkets and convenience stores are nearby for cooking supplies, and Kuromon Market sells fruit and ready-to-eat dishes. Osaka's accommodation tax is charged per person per night depending on the room rate, which for an apartment shared by several people may be calculated per guest.
