SeaWorld San Antonio is the biggest park in the SeaWorld family, spread across more than 400 acres on the far west side of the city about half an hour from downtown, and it combines marine-animal habitats with a ride lineup that has grown steadily more thrilling. The animal side includes orca presentations at Orca Stadium (the old theatrical shows were replaced by the more educational Orca Encounter in 2020), a large beluga population that grew in 2026 with whales relocated from the closed Marineland in Canada, bottlenose and Pacific white-sided dolphins, sea lions, a penguin habitat with several species, and touch pools and feeding experiences. The ride side is strong for Texas: the Texas Stingray, billed as the tallest, longest and fastest wooden coaster in the state; Wave Breaker, a double-launch "rescue" coaster that skims over water; Catapult Falls, a launched flume ride that opened in 2024; Tidal Surge, a giant swing; classic coasters Great White and Steel Eel; the Journey to Atlantis water coaster; and Barracuda Strike, a new inverted family coaster that opened in March 2026. Younger children have SeaWorld Rescue Jr., a 2025 kids' area with gentle rides and play zones. Next door, Aquatica San Antonio is a separately gated water park, open in the warm season. The Tiqets ticket includes park admission, rides and shows, with Aquatica as an optional add-on. Seasonal events change the park's personality: Halloween events through early November and SeaWorld's Christmas Celebration with lights and holiday shows from mid-November. Operating days and hours vary by season, with fewer days in winter, so check the calendar before you go.

Plan SeaWorld as a full day. Arrive at opening, ride the big coasters — Texas Stingray, Wave Breaker and Catapult Falls — before the lines build, then switch to the animal habitats and presentations in the hottest part of the day, when the covered stadiums and indoor viewing areas are cooler. Pick up a show schedule at the entrance or on the app and build your afternoon around the orca, dolphin and sea lion presentations, which are timed throughout the day. Families with small children can base themselves around SeaWorld Rescue Jr. and the penguin and beluga habitats; teens and thrill-seekers will spend more time on the coaster side of the park.

Heat and water are the big variables. From May through September, temperatures are high and shade is limited in places, so pack sunscreen, refillable bottles and a change of clothes — several rides soak you thoroughly. Many visitors in summer combine SeaWorld with Aquatica on a separate day or a combo ticket. Spring and autumn are the most comfortable seasons, and the Christmas Celebration from mid-November brings lights, holiday shows and seasonal food in the cooler evenings. Dining packages can save money if you plan to eat several meals in the park.

Practicalities: you will need a car or rideshare — the park is on the far west side near Loop 1604, and parking is paid. Lockers are available for coasters and water rides. If you care about the ethics of marine parks, the park's shift away from theatrical orca shows and its rescue and rehabilitation programs are part of the story, and the experience today leans more toward education and rides than it once did. Tiqets also bundles SeaWorld with Natural Bridge Caverns, Six Flags Fiesta Texas and other city attractions if you are planning a multi-park trip.
