Rainforest Wild Adventure

Treks, canopy climbs and okapi at Mandai

Rainforest Wild Adventure is the newest of the five Mandai parks and the most active. It opened in March 2025 as Rainforest Wild ASIA, a trail-led park through Asian rainforest habitats, and in May 2026 it added a second zone, EAST, devoted to the forests of Africa and Madagascar, at which point the whole park took its new name. One ticket covers both zones. WEST, the original park, is fully outdoors: you walk forest treks where tigers, sun bears and tapirs live in naturalistic habitats, may see free-roaming langurs and deer, and pass through The Cavern, a sheltered 220-metre walk inspired by Borneo's Mulu caves. EAST is fully sheltered, with an elevated walkway that works for wheelchairs and strollers, and covers seven hectares of Afro-tropical and Madagascan habitats. Its stars are the okapi, the shy forest relative of the giraffe, making its Southeast Asian debut in the Hidden Forest, along with free-ranging lemurs in Lemur Land, pygmy hippos and otters in the Riverine Forest, and bongo, red river hogs and crocodiles in the Red Ravine. What makes the park different is the Adventure+ programme: nine activities built into the forest, from a pitch-dark Cavern Crawl to the Treetop Traverse canopy course, the Primate Climb up an artificial strangler fig, the Ravine Swing, a seated Canopy Glider and the Canopy Jump from up to twenty metres. Daily limits apply to how many you can do, and the Canopy Glider must be booked ahead in the Mandai app. It is a park for active families, teenagers and adults who want more than looking.

Pick your order by energy level. Thrill-seekers should start in WEST while it is cool, doing the outdoor treks and the Canopy Jump, then move to the sheltered EAST zone for the canopy course, climbs and okapi during the heat of the day. Families with young children, or anyone wanting a gentler visit, can start in EAST, which is fully covered and step-free, and finish with a shorter loop in WEST. Mandai suggests at least four to five hours for both zones, more if you want to do many of the Adventure+ activities.

The two zones are about 800 metres apart: walk it in around twenty minutes, or ride the free M1 East-West shuttle during the day. WEST trails can be muddy after rain, so wear shoes with grip, and bring sun protection and a light poncho. The Mandai app is essential here: it handles Canopy Glider bookings, shows live wait times for activities, sends animal sighting alerts and offers free Wi-Fi. Harnessed activities are graded by thrill level, with the higher levels involving real heights. Food is at the Watering Hole Cafe in WEST, where you can watch tapirs, and the Rangers Retreat and Rangers Pitstop in EAST.

The park is open daily, with last admission an hour before closing, and sits in the Mandai Wildlife Reserve alongside the zoo, Bird Paradise, River Wonders and the Night Safari. Because it takes most of a day, it does not combine easily with another daytime park, but it pairs perfectly with the Night Safari after dark. For first-time visitors with only one Mandai day, the zoo and Night Safari remain the classic choice; Rainforest Wild Adventure is the pick for a second Mandai day or for active travellers who have seen zoos before.

Good questions

Is Rainforest Wild Adventure the same as Rainforest Wild ASIA?+

Yes. Rainforest Wild ASIA opened in March 2025 and became the WEST zone of Rainforest Wild Adventure when the African and Madagascan EAST zone opened in May 2026. Some ticket sites still use the old name.

Does one ticket cover both zones?+

Yes. A single admission covers WEST and EAST, linked by a free daytime shuttle or a twenty-minute walk.

Are the adventure activities included?+

The Adventure+ activities are included subject to daily limits, and the Canopy Glider must be booked in advance through the Mandai app. Check the app for current limits and wait times.

Where can I see the okapi?+

In the Hidden Forest in the EAST zone, where the okapi makes its Southeast Asian debut. It is shy, so the Okapi Trek is your best chance.

Is it suitable for young children or wheelchairs?+

EAST is fully sheltered with an elevated universal-access walkway suitable for strollers and wheelchairs. WEST is outdoor, trail-based and can be muddy after rain.
