Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort

Aruba's adults-only boutique beach resort on Eagle Beach: full breakfast included, no resort fees, a beachfront restaurant and a serious sustainability record. The splurge for couples.

★★★★★

Bucuti & Tara is the Eagle Beach hotel that couples choose when they want quiet, polish and the island's best sand outside the door. It is exclusively for adults and couples aged 18 and older, so there are no children, groups or group weddings, and the mood stays calm all day. The resort has two restaurants, the beachfront Elements and the Tara Lounge, plus the SandBar beach bar for guests. A complimentary full American breakfast is served daily and included in every rate, and the rates also include Wi-Fi, taxes and fees with no resort fees, which makes the headline price easier to compare. There is a pool and a solar-heated whirlpool, and the beach has plenty of sun loungers reserved for registered guests. Rooms are tailored to couples, and penthouse suites add rain showers and a large soaking tub, while standard rooms have rain showers. Each room has a dehumidifier and a HEPA air purifier, a small touch that guests with allergies appreciate.

Location and getting around: the resort sits directly on Eagle Beach in the low-rise strip, so the sand, sunsets and the fofoti tree are all on your doorstep. The resort says there are around eighteen restaurants within walking distance, and a Dine Around Plan lets guests have three-course dinners at selected island restaurants. For longer outings, taxis and the public bus run along the main road, and most visitors rent a car for a day for Arikok National Park and the south coast.

The rooms and the feel: expect a boutique, couples-focused atmosphere with no loud pool music, since individual speakers are not allowed at the pool or beach. Free movies under the stars twice a week and live music at the SandBar give the evenings some gentle entertainment. The resort offers a grocery shopping service, and guests receive a stainless steel water canteen, in line with its sustainability approach: it uses an island desalination system for water and provides no disposable plastic bottles.

Good to know: this is a splurge, and rates rise in high season and holiday weeks, so book early. It suits honeymooners, anniversaries and travelers who want peace, and it does not suit families. Smoking is limited to designated areas, and drones are restricted. If you want an all-day party scene or a casino, a larger Palm Beach resort will fit better. Beach facilities are for registered guests only.
