Bermuda

Bermuda

Bermuda is a small island with a great deal of coastline: pink-tinged sand coves under limestone cliffs, turquoise water over reef and shipwreck, pastel houses with white stepped roofs and a cast-iron lighthouse that has watched over it since 1846.

This guide books the island properly. It starts with Horseshoe Bay and the south shore beaches, goes underground at the Crystal and Fantasy Caves, and spends a day at the Royal Naval Dockyard and the National Museum of Bermuda inside its great fort. It walks the lanes of UNESCO-listed St. George, climbs Gibbs Hill Lighthouse for the view over the whole island, and gets you out on the water by glass-bottom boat, snorkel trip to a shipwreck or a catamaran sail with a rum swizzle. Then it matches you to a hotel, from a Rosewood resort on the east end to the Hamilton Princess in town, a cliffside cottage resort on the south shore and a quiet Dockyard-side property in the west. November is shoulder season, with mild weather and fewer crowds, so the guide also says what runs, what thins out and what is closed.
