Where to Stay in Aruba

A guide to Aruba's main areas, Eagle Beach, Palm Beach, Oranjestad and Noord, with five hotels matched to different budgets and travel styles.

On a small island, the choice of base comes down to the kind of beach day you want and how much you want to walk to dinner. Aruba's hotels cluster in a few areas, each with its own mood, and this guide matches them to five places to stay.

Eagle Beach: calm, wide sand

Eagle Beach has low-rise hotels, apartment resorts and a long, uncrowded beach, with casual restaurants across the road. It is the best base for couples and travelers who want sunsets and quiet. Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort is the splurge: adults-only for guests 18 and older, directly on the sand, with a full American breakfast included in every rate and no resort fees. Manchebo Beach Resort & Spa is the mid-range wellness option on the same beach, with a beachfront spa, four restaurants and daily yoga and Pilates.

Palm Beach: busy and convenient

Palm Beach in Noord is the island's most developed stretch, with high-rise resorts, casinos, shops, restaurants and the Pelican Pier departures for catamaran sails. It suits families, groups and travelers who want a lot to do within walking distance. The Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort Spa and Casino is the full-service choice here, with a casino and the ZoiA Spa.

Oranjestad: town and cruise port

The capital is the best base if you want culture, shopping and easy transfers. The Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba Resort sits at L.G. Smith Boulevard 82 in town, about three kilometers from the airport, with a private island reached by water taxi, free-roaming flamingos, three pools and two casinos. The downtown walking tour starts close by, and Eagle Beach and Palm Beach are a short ride away.

Noord: budget and residential

Away from the beachfront, Noord has apartment-style hotels and local restaurants at lower prices. Aruba Blue Village, at Cunucu Abao 37, offers studios and one and two-bedroom apartments with a pool and restaurant, and is close to the beaches and bars. You will need the bus, a taxi or a rental car to reach the sand.

Choosing between them

Pick Eagle Beach for calm and romance, Palm Beach for variety and activity, Oranjestad for town and a private-island day, and Noord for value. Families often prefer Palm Beach or the Renaissance Ocean Suites for space and amenities, while couples gravitate to Bucuti & Tara or Manchebo. If a hotel's official page does not list a detail such as age policy, parking or resort fees, ask before you book.

When to book

High season and holiday weeks fill early, especially the adults-only and beachfront options, so reserve ahead. Budget travelers should book early for the best apartment rates, then spend the savings on a catamaran sail or the Arikok jeep safari. Whichever base you choose, the island is small enough that every beach and attraction is within an easy drive.
